Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday promised that the international borders in West Bengal with neighbouring Bangladesh will be sealed with barbed fencing within 45 days after the BJP comes to power in the state.
Addressing a rally in poll-bound West Bengal’s Chandipur, Shah accused the TMC of deliberately keeping the borders with Bangladesh open to allow infiltrators to enter the state.

“Freeing West Bengal of the illegal infiltrators is our priority. Neither the current Chief Minister nor her nephew will ever allow that. Those who are responsible for allowing illegal infiltrators to enter West Bengal will never drive them away from the state. They have deliberately kept the international borders with Bangladesh unfenced and open,” the BJP leader alleged.
He promised that these open borders will be sealed within 45 days of BJP coming to power after elections. “Let us come to power. Those open borders will be sealed through the erection of barbed fencing there within 45 days,” Shah added.
Amid allegations of a secret deal with Humayun Kabir to break Muslim votes of the TMC, Shah asserted that the saffron party will never allow Babri Mosque to be built in Bengal.
“The BJP government is coming, and we will not allow Babri Masjid to be built in Bengal…,” he said.
He further claimed that the BJP has “freed” the country from terrorism and Naxalism, adding that it is the only party that will free the country from infiltrators.
“No place will be left for infiltrators from the Bay of Bengal to the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea…,” he vowed.
With campaigning for the first phase elections coming to an end, Shah also promised monthly financial support to woo the voters.
“You form the BJP government, we will give a cheque of Rs 3 thousand in the accounts of our sisters, and we will also give Rs 3 thousand every month to unemployed youth…,” he added.
